Community Building holds many memories

December 24, 2013
Kelli Kleppe - Reporter , Dysart Reporter

Darlene and Marv Monroe have made many wonderful memories at the Community Building here in Dysart. One of them was their wedding reception, which was held in June of 1951. They were married at the Lutheran Church here in town, and without the Community Building they would have had to travel to a different town to celebrate for their reception.

Darlene also has wonderful memories of several different events throughout her whole life at the Community Building. She stated that from early childhood to even today it has been a blessing to have the building there for different occasions. Darlene remembers having her Junior/Senior prom there while in high school. They would dance and have fun all night, they would even stay over night at the building and wake up and make breakfast! Over the years there have been several weddings, fundraisers, and other special events held in this building, and Dysart would be lost without it, stated Karen. When the weather is cold or icky, you can almost always find people just walking around the building for exercise and of course some great conversation with neighbors and friends.

Today, the Community Building is rented out almost all the time. Around Christmas and the Holidays there is surely something going on everyday. Whether it is a family renting it for their own personal Christmas party, or a wonderful event such as Christmas on Main there is always a purpose for this essential building in our community.
