Eighteen members of the Gladbrook Guys and Gals 4-H Club, along with five chaperones, visited Dysart for a chance to tour local attractions and learn from local business owners and artists on March 29. The tours were planned and guided by the local HAT Team and members of the Dysart Historical Society.

Mike Rowan, with Rowan Manufacturing, led the group on a tour of the manufacturing area and showroom. He described the work the company does in the agribusiness industry, as well as the art made for yard and home dcor. Each 4-H member received a decorative metal item to take home to paint.

The group learned about repurposing items at both The Nest and The Blacksmith Boutique. A couple of 4-H members were able to make an item to bring home at The Blacksmith Boutique.

At Where Two Corners Meet, Russ Grimm explained what to keep in mind when matting and framing art or photography while also giving a tour of the art gallery. Julie McLaughlin, of McJulie Studio, taught the group about making paper and gave the opportunity for the group members to make sheets of paper. Sheri Guilliot, of Custom Creations, offered a tour of her workroom and gave information about projects which can beautify a home.

The group enjoyed lunch at the BrickLynn Caf where several community members volunteered to serve the group.

In the afternoon, the group gathered at the Dysart Historical Center. Ruth and Al Schafbuch directed activities in the Agriculture Museum; Helen Wieben and Mary Ann Gregory led the groups at the Historical Museum, and Catharine Wieck acted as the teacher at the Country School.

At the end of the day, each 4-H member and chaperone received a packet of materials containing activities complementary to the experience at the Historical Center's Agricultural Museum.
