Dysart's Korte honored at Community Forestry Luncheon

April 12, 2013
Dysart Reporter

The Iowa Urban and Community Forestry Council is proud to announce Lee Korte from Dysart as an Outstanding Volunteer for 2012. The award was presented at the 23rd Annual Urban and Community Forestry Awards Luncheon on April 2, 2013 held at the Stoney Creek Inn in Johnston.

Over the years, Lee Korte has contributed many hundreds of volunteer hours in planting and maintaining trees on city property, and he is always available to assist residents with their various tree issues. Korte's help was invaluable following Dysart's July 11, 2011 derecho, which devastated the city's trees. He contributed greatly by helping the tree board meet short-term recovery and safety goals, along with the documentation required for FEMA recovery funding. Korte's dedication to Dysart?s tree program has been a key factor in the maintenance and expansion of the city's urban forest.

Lee Korte is an outstanding example of Iowa's community forestry volunteers, by enhancing our forest resources. Korte's outstanding contribution of time, energy, and expertise, striving to improve Dysart's tree resource will benefit Dysart for future generations.
