As of the first of September, Alice McGrath replaced Nancy Havran as the President of the Board for the Wolf Creek Players, which is a community theater group established in 2009. The President of the Board conducts all business aspects of the board and is voted on and approved by other board members.
Nancy Havran has completed her four year tenure, as the first President of the Board for the group. At the time of her appointing, the group didn't even have a name. An immense amount of progress has been made in that time and the group has presented several productions.
During Havran's tenure, the Wolf Creek Players has developed into an established community theater group. "There was a great deal of work involved to get this project off the ground. From establishing a simple thing as where to meet, writing by-laws, selecting a name of the organization, writing grants, discovering how to select scripts, finding the talent to present the plays, finding individuals to work backstage on productions and last but not least, finding a place to present the plays. None of this could have been done without the help of the board members," Havran said.
After she retired, Havran was looking for something that she was passionate about that she could put her energy into and find satisfaction. She found this in the Wolf Creek Players.
"Being involved with Wolf Creek Players has been 'just the ticket' for me. To see a community so supportive of this new group has given me a great feeling and I feel very happy to be a part of Wolf Creek Players. There is so much talent in Dysart and surrounding communities and that has been proven time and time again when scripts are selected, actors are selected by auditions, individuals volunteer to help in so many ways, etc. When people have been asked for assistance in so many ways, they are so willing to help. I have never been disappointed in anything we have done and know that will continue," Havran said.
Havran plans on continuing to be a part of the Wolf Creek Players by being an advisory member of the board. She holds many fond memories from her tenure, due to all of the amazing people that she works with including the members of the board, the actors, backstage crew, and the Dysart community.
"The experience of being president has been and continues to be a very rewarding one due to the fact that we have received such great support from the community of Dysart and the communities surrounding Dysart," Havran said.
The Wolf Creek Players will continue to move forward and hopefully find a home under the direction of the new President of the Board. "Alice McGrath is a very capable, talented individual that we are fortunate enough to have as a new board member and president. We are thrilled beyond words to have her as the new chairman," Havran said.
Congratulations to Nancy Havran on four successful years as the President of the Board and best of luck to Alice McGrath as she continues to make the Wolf Creek Players a successful organization in Dysart and the surrounding area.
