Dysart Reporter

One of the top amateur vocal groups in the Cedar Valley will perform at the Traer Cultural Center at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 18. The quartet Harmony Rox sings a cappella, four-part harmony and was a medal winner in the Region #22 Sweet Adelines International contest in 2009. They perform close barbershop harmony, some traditional and some more contemporary. They do gospel, jazz, uptunes, ballads and novelty numbers and enjoy interacting with their audiences.

Quartet members are: Carol Anhalt, Jesup, tenor and mortgage loan administrator at Farmers State Bank in Jesup; Carolyn Haller, Cedar Falls, lead voice and a retiree from 30 years at River Hills School; Linda Podhajsky, baritone, formerly of Tama County, but now of Waverly where she retired as Special Education teacher at Waverly-Shell Rock High School; Marilynn Buxton, Waverly, provides the bass foundation. She is elementary talented and gifted teacher at Waverly-Shell Rock Schools. The program is free, although donations are accepted to cover expenses.
