Relay for Life is June 14

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life of Tama County will begin at noon on Saturday, June 14, at the South Tama H.S. track. Opening ceremony will begin at 1:00 p.m. with a welcome ceremony, including the National Anthem sung by Carri Holst. This event is free and open to the public. In case of rain the Relay will move to the South Tama High School gymnasium.

This year's Relay for Life is being celebrated all afternoon and evening of June 14th. A Silent Auction will offer varied items for sale from 2-8 p.m., food vendors will offer tasty options, and raffle tickets will be available for a hot-air balloon ride, a handmade quilt, an original metal sculpture, and a Size Pillow Top Mattress & Box Springs. Special games are planned for each hour.Luminaria can also be purchased at any time during the afternoon.

The Survivor Ceremony will begin at 5:45 p.m. with a talk by survivor, Dr. Dennis Mallory. The evening will conclude with the Luminaria Ceremony at 9 p.m. and a special closing ceremony as well.
