March 28, 2014
Kelli Kleppe - Reporter , Dysart Reporter

The Dysart Fire Fighter Association held its annual Fireman's Dance this past Saturday, March 22nd. The event had live music and fun for all ages. This event raises money in order to help the fire department operate all year long. Without the local support and donations the fire departments efforts would not be able to continue year after year.

The dance this year was held at the Dysart Community Building, which has been the host location for numerous previous years, and definitely more to come. There was live music from 8 p.m. until midnight by a local group called the "Bar Flyz". The event was open to people of all ages. Everyone was invited to come down, dance, and have a great time.

Almost all of the 24 squad members were present at the event. A special guest Harold Langbehn was in attendance as well. Harold served over 64 years on the Dysart Fire Fighters Association. He stated he has also been to probably the last 50 Fireman's dances or so. I asked Harold his favorite part of serving as a fire fighter, He smiled and said proudly, "All of it."

John Schneider was also in attendance, John has served 40 years with the department and is excited to welcome a family member to the crew. Eric Schneider, John's son has joined the Dysart Fire Department, this is his first year. John and Eric stated its a family affair now, and they love working together with the fire department.

The donations earned at the event will help the crew all year long. It will purchase new equipment, as well as provide training and courses which are beneficial to the crew. It will also help with the upkeep of the current equipment and facility.

They Dysart Fire Fighters Association would like to thank everyone for their support and donations. The Dance this year had a great turnout and the fire department really enjoyed seeing everyone show up to support their cause. Keep your eyes and ears peeled for the annual Pancake Breakfast which is also put on by the fire department every fall, it is usually the last Saturday in October.
