Virginia Mae Gonnerman, age 86, of Waterloo passed away at the Harmony House Health Care Center on Thursday, March 20, 2014.
Virginia was born on March 1, 1928, on the family farm near Dysart to Charles and Marie (Winter) Gonnerman. Virginia was diagnosed with epilepsy at an early age and lived her childhood and teenage years at the Woodward Home for the mentally handicapped. During most of her adult years, she lived at the Tama County Home near Toledo, and then on December 3, 2007, she moved to the Harmony House Health Care Center, Waterloo.
Survivors include sisters Maydine of Mason City, IA, VirJean of Sturtevant, WI, Burnell of Mankato, MN, Dean (Eunice) of Oregon City, OR, LaVerne (Esther) of Bonderant, IA, Gary (Marguerite) of St. Ansgar, IA, and Allen (Jan) of Montgomery, IL.
Preceding Virginia in death were her parents, three sisters, Beverly, Angeline, and Lorraine, two sisters-in-law (Nita and Sheryl), and two brothers-in-law (Wentzel Kern and Bill Dwyer). A memorial service will be held at a later date. Burial will be in the St. Ansgar Cemetary.
