Last winter we introduced you to a Union football player named Jay Scheel. Jay verbally agreed to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes last year, and here is a continued update of his journey. Jay is currently a senior this year at Union High School. His upcoming move to Iowa City, and the beginning of his new journey are right around the corner, and he is very excited!

A few weekends ago Jay took a trip down to Iowa City to finalize some details about going to school and playing football there. During his visit, Jay was able to meet with some of the coaching staff and learn more about the team. He will start his college career as a wide receiver for the Hawkeyes. During high school Jay played a few different positions including quarterback and receiver. In both positions you could see him excel, whether he was speeding down the field gracefully avoiding tackles, or throwing long, accurate touchdown scoring passes.

Jay was also happy that he got to meet some more of his teammates on his recent visit. He already knew most of the in-state players, but he thought it was awesome to meet all of the new out-of-state guys as well. We are very proud of you Jay and can't wait to see you in that Hawkeye uniform come fall!
