On November 14, 2013 the H.A.T. (Hospitality and Tour) Team attended the National Philanthropy Day Event at the Park Place Event Centre after being nominated for their volunteerism and development of their team over the last few years. Reta Callahan nominated the team in the Gift of the Heart: Innovation category because this award recognizes an organization that has employed a unique and innovative approach to increase the organization's ability to fulfill its mission, attract financial support/volunteers/client, and/or collaborate on a shared goal/vision. The .A.T. Team is visible in the downtown area each day to visit with customers who come to Dysart to shop. They also provide garden tours and style shows for groups and are definitely recognizable in their blue hats. Because of their forward-thinking efforts and positive attitudes, they have made Dysart grow and become a destination place for many. We appreciate their efforts.
The National Philanthropy Day award event was hosted by the Northeast Iowa Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Internationally the group has 30,000 members in 235 chapters throughout the world which works to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education, and certification programs. There were five different categories for awards and had 29 entries overall. After hearing their stories, it was apparent there are many area people and organization that help promote the Cedar Valley area with their volunteerism and heart.
