Meeting on park, community building improvements

November 15, 2013

The City of Dysart is undertaking some exciting and needed changes to the Community Building and City Park. There will be a public meeting on Monday, November 18th at 6:30 in the Community Building. All area residents are invited to attend and see detailed drawings and plans for the renovation and construction.

Some of the changes to the Community Building will include air conditioning, an elevator, and renovations to help restore the building and ensure it is around for many years to come. The City Park portion of the project will include construction of an open air pavilion in the southwest corner of the park.

Both the Community Building and City Park are such a valuable asset to our community. They serve as a hub for connecting with others and play an important part in shaping our communities identity. So please feel free to attend the meeting on Monday and learn about the exciting renovations to such beloved parts of our town!

This event will be the official kick off for the project. The City has committed to donating $440,000 but with the total renovations costing $835,864 more money will need to be raised. In January a Vision Iowa Community Attraction and Tourism grant will be filed requesting $160,000. Many other regional and area grant applications will be filed between now and January. Community support will only help strengthen these applications and make it even more possible to start these projects and renovations.

To make this project a reality, the city needs your help. The local capital campaign goal is $176,000. Financial contributions will show community support and leveraging our local dollars is the best way to help this project move forward. All contributions are important and welcome, regardless of size.

Recreational, cultural, educational and entertainment opportunities make Dysart a special place to call home. With your support, we can maintain and enhance these valuable resources for future generations. We hope to see everyone on Monday evening to learn more about these exciting changes!
