Dysart hosted its 9th Annual Wine Tasting Fall Festival last weekend, September 28th. Rain or shine, the event was scheduled from 4-8 p.m. The first hour of the event was a little wet, but soon the skies cleared up and a few rays of sunshine were peeking through the clouds. Despite the gloomy weather, the turnout was great!
People lined up at the Master Clipper, which was the beginning location where you could purchase your wine glass. The registration was taken care of by a few of the members of the Blue Hats from Dysart. Once your wine glass was purchased, you could venture in any direction and find something worth checking out! There were a few different booths on main street, as well as some old cars for show. The Getaway City Band was playing live music in front of the library and each winery was located in a different business in downtown Dysart. In total, there were 11 wineries present this year.
The event has continued to grow over the years, and more people are traveling to Dysart specifically for the wine tasting event each fall. Marci from Gladbrook stated, "Please keep on having the event, it is alot of fun and I enjoy coming."
Santa Maria Vineyard and Winery made its first appearance at the event this year. They are from Carroll, IA. John and Rose Guinan are the founders and owners of Santa Maria. They said that they are having a great time and the wine tasting festival is a wonderful event, especially now that the rain has cleared!
We had a few local wineries present as well. The Fox Ridge Winery from Traer and the John Ernest Vineyard and Winery from Tama were both at the event. All of the wineries present are located right here in the great state of Iowa.
Here is a full list of all of the wineries that were present to make this such a wonderful, and delicious event! The John Ernest Vineyard and Winery from Tama, Tassel Ridge Winery from Leighton, Winneshiek Wildberry Winery from Decorah, Fox Ridge Winery from Traer, Engelbrecht Family Winery from Fredericksburg, Fireside Winery from Marengo, Brick Arch Winery from West Branch, Heartland Harvest Winery from Fort Madison, Santa Maria Vineyard and Winery from Carroll, Park Farm Winery from Bankston and Summerset Winery from Indianola!
A special thanks goes out to the Dysart Business Builders, the Dysart Development Corporation, and the Dysart Volunteer Fire Department. With out you, and many many more this event would not have been made possible. So thank you for all of the time and effort put into making this such a wonderful event not only for the residents of the community but for people all around who come to the event. Be sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled throughout the next year to find out details on next years 10th annual wine tasting!
