Yard of the Month for August was awarded to Larry and Marcia Luze. Larry and Marcia moved into Dysart in 2006. Before this they lived just north of town on a farm belonging to Larry's family. They often spent the winters in Texas before they moved into town.
Marcia loves to tend to her beautiful flowers. Her favorite spot of the yard is the shrubs planted alongside the garage. They have magnificent colors when in bloom and are not a ridiculous amount of up keep. Many of the shrubs are Hydrangeas; this is Marcia's very favorite type of plant. She also takes care of their small vegetable garden which sits along the backside of the property. They have the vegetables in a raised bed. Larry and Marcia stated they love the convenience a raised bed has to offer. It generally has many less weeds, and the few it does get, are much easier to remove since you can just sit on the edge of the bed and reach around. They have had a few problems with rabbits this year, but a simple little wire fence around the outside helped keep them away. Larry spends his time in the yard by mowing and making sure the grass looks great, of course he is there to help Marcia with the tasks that she needs him to.
