Second annual Golf Cart Cruise a success

August 16, 2013
Kelli Kleppe - Reporter , Dysart Reporter

The "Blue Hat Club" of Dysart held the second annual Golf Cart Cruise on August 8. Considering you can't just cruise your golf cart though any old town, they figured it would be a fun event that everyone could enjoy, and they were right!

Everyone met on Main Street around 6 pm. There was music playing over the speakers and free freshly-popped popcorn, which was donated by the Dysart Development Corporation.

This year, there were a total of 22 carts in the cruise. Everyone gathered and mingled until they were ready to start the cruise. They drove around town for 25-30 minutes and ended by coming right back up main street.

Hailey and Taryn Petersen help draw names for prize giveaways at the Golf Cart Cruise August 8.

At the end of the cruise, there were prizes to be given away. Hailey and Taryn Petersen, who rode with their parents on their golf cart, assisted with drawing the names and handing out the prizes. The DDC donated ten Dysart Dollar coupons worth $10 each, and Craig and Julie Dunlap of Young's Golf Carts donated a grand prize, which was a free golf cart service. A congratulations goes to Flo Cochran who was the winner of the grand prize! The winners of the 10 Dysart Dollar coupons are: Wanda Petersen, Raea Struve, Larry Luze, Jerry Hadley, Karen Symonds, Doug Mehlhaus, Mel Cambell, Craig Dunlap, Eric Schneider, and Rich Behrens.

With how much fun everyone had at this event, it goes without saying that the residents of Dysart would love to see this tradition continue for many years!
