The Norma Anders Public Library of Dysart celebrated its 10th birthday this month. Rachelle Frost, who became the children's librarian in 2005, decided to throw a birthday party in recognition of this. She invited the local children and families of the area to come join and help celebrate the library's birthday.
The celebrations started out with former elementary principal Joe Coffey and Rachelle taking turns reading a few birthday inspired children's books to the kids. Next, each one of the children made a candle with their name on it and placed tn on a giant poster shaped like a cake. After the cake was decorated, all the kids colored and made birthday cards to hang up in the library.
Then it was time to move the party outside for a scavenger hunt of story time characters that were hidden in the children's garden. There were 18 in total and the children loved running around trying to find all of them. The fun continued as the children played games, blew bubbles and drew on the side walk with chalk.
Kids play the “Mr. Wolf, what time is it?” game. For more photos of the event, check out the print issue of this week's Dysart Reporter.
Everyone enjoyed amazing birthday cupcakes and lemonade which was made by Ann Anniss. This entire day was made possible by the help of many people. A big thank you from Rachelle and the library goes to Dan Hartwig, who played "Mr. Wolf, what time is it?" The children's game had all the kids screaming and giggling with excitement.
The library also made a special mention to thank Coni Coffey for assisting with the "Hot Potato Game" and Joe Coffey for reading during story time. Miranda Reichmann painted the cake that the children put their candles on.
Thank you to everyone who attended to help the library celebrate this special time. Here is to many more years of this beautiful library and its wonderful resources and contribution to our community.
The Library would like to invite all of you to a public open house for people of all ages on Friday, July 19, from 6-8 p.m.
