Alfred R. Albert, 59

Alfred Raye Albert (Al), 59, of Golden Valley Mn, formerly of Hudson passed away peacefully on May 26, 2013 at home surrounded by his family and devoted friends. His body was donated to the University of Minnesota Medical School.

He was born July 2, 1953 son of Leeward and Elsie Petersen Albert. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1971. Then he graduated from Wartburg College in 1975 with a degree in Music Education and a minor in Spanish. He later graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Masters degree in Art.

Al was an artist, an art and music teacher, a linguist, an avid gardener and world traveler. He was one of the first recipients of a kidney transplant in 1979 from his sister Becky. Through his kindness, his devotion to continuous learning and sharing, and his respect for all people, he deeply touched many lives as a teacher, a son, a brother, an uncle, a cousin, and beloved friend.

Survived by siblings Jerome (Kathy) Albert, of Cedar Falls, Becky (John) Bruckner of Omaha, NE, Brian (Robin) Albert, Glenwood, IA, his partner Jon Hampton of Golden Valley, MN, many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceded in death by this parents and one sister Brenda in infancy.

Services will be held a later date.

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the American Cancer Society.
