Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart a success

April 26, 2013
Dysart Reporter

Dysart-Geneseo Elementary students are great. They helped raise $5,112.18 in donations for the American Heart Association for Heart Disease Research and Educational Programs about Heart Disease. D-G participates in this event in February during odd calendar years. Mr. Ewald, D-G's PE teacher and event coordinator, set donation goals for this year. No goals were reached. D-G was approximately $388 short of the first goal of $5,500. Here are some facts related to the 2013 Jump Rope/Hoops for Heart event:

D-G office secretary, Laura Moody and her husband Ryan, were the guest speakers at the event kickoff assembly. They are the parents of D-G student Danson Moody who was born with a congenital heart defect.

Carlie McNeal, from Mrs. Hass's 5th grade class, was the top individual donation collector.

13 D-G students collected at least $100.

19 D-G students collected between $50-99 in donations.

Mrs. Hass's 5th grade class was the Class Challenge Champs. They won the pizza party sponsored by the student council and the Class Challenge Champs t-shirt.

Jacob Muller's name was drawn as the winner of the Jump Rope for Heart shirt. Jacob is in Mrs. Asmussen's class.

Mr. Ewald says thank you to the D-G students and their parents, the D-G teachers, the people who donated, Mrs. Gardner and Mrs. Moody in the D-G office, and D-G Principal Mr. Hill!
