Movie director at Clutier tourism event Saturday

April 26, 2013
Dysart Reporter

Scott Thompson, director of the movie "A Place for Heroes," will be an honored guest at the annual gala hosted by the Tama County Convention and Visitors' Bureau. Other guests planning to come for the event this Saturday, April 27, are the Assistant Director Catherine Penning, and one of the stars of the movie, Kiera Morrill.

Thompson, who was effusive in his 2012 comments about the wonderful hospitality offered by Tama County residents to the cast and crew of the movie, changed his plans so he, Morrill and Penning could attend this Tama County event. (They had been planning to attend the Iowa Motion Picture Association awards ceremony, until asked to attend this local event.) "We are glad to make time to come over," Thompson said.

The Tama County annual fundraiser for tourism is being held this year in Clutier at the ZCBJ Hall, a historic site, and also the location for some of the movie shot last year. Thompson said, "We have not been in that dance hall since we ended production, so it will be nice to come again." The film is set to make its debut in May, with its initial showing in Traer.

Thompson also will furnish some items for the silent auction, and will show some video clips from the movie, as well as speak. Social time begins at 6 p.m., with dinner and entertainment beginning at 6:30 p.m.

All profits from the evening are used to promote travel to, and within, Tama County.

Call 641-484-3108 for more information on Saturday's event.
