Hora-Machacek Legion Auxiliary held a sewing day on Thursday, March 7 at the post home in Clutier. Day started at 9 a.m. and those enjoying fellowship in addition to tearing and sewing carpet rags for IVH in Marshalltown were: Lillian Dostal, Jean Miller, Maxine Kopriva, Evelyn Caloud, Linda Dvorak, Pauline Sienknecht, Helen Sevcik, Vera Sevcik, Eileen Hora, Mary Seda, and Veronica Pavlicek. Potluck was enjoyed by all at noon.
Monthly meeting commenced at 12:30 p.m. with President Veronica presiding. Secretary Evelyn called the roll and read last month's minutes, which were approved.
Treasurer Linda gave financial report. Money will be sent for unit's obligation for Government Day. Veronica presented bill for Juvenile Home three March Birthday cards and gifts she sent. Vera made a motion, seconded by Pauline, that her bill be paid and motion carried.
Unit Data Form will be filled out and mailed. Linda made a motion and seconded by Mary that Senior dues will be $14 and Junior dues $2 and motion carried. County President Jolene reported that we have 74 paid members.
Evelyn, Becky, and Veronica attended the County meeting on February 28th at Elberon. Very nice memorial service for the past year's deceased Legion and Auxiliary members was conducted by Jeannene Rank.
Itemized Donation Documentation was reviewed from IVH for the 19 pounds of carpet balls that was delivered to them. This is the amount that the unit sewed at their February sewing day.
IVH Foreign Food Fair is March 16th. Escorts and 6 dozen kolaches need to be there at 10am. March 23rd is 3rd District Conference at Gladbrook. The Auxiliary is meeting at the Peace United Church of Christ at 201 Johnston St. Registration is 7:30 to 8:30am. Lunch tickets are $6.00 and payable at registration time.
Tama County Government Day is April 10 at the Toledo Reineg Civic Center. Need chaperons, guides, and kitchen help. Need to be there at 8am.
A birthday card for Helen Sevcik was signed by all present. The group sang happy birthday to Helen Sevcik, Jean Miller, and Veronica Pavlicek.
April meeting will be Tuesday the 2nd at 2 p.m.
