Healthy, volunteer blood donors are needed to provide lifesaving blood and blood products to hospital patients in our community. Only 38 percent of the U.S. population is eligible to donate blood but less than 10 percent donate annually. Blood donation matters everyday for cancer patients undergoing treatment, for accident and trauma patients, and for individuals being treated for various blood disorders. You can make a difference in your community and help save the lives of hospital patients in need by donating blood. Please plan to give your lifesaving gift at the next Dysart Community Blood Drive. The blood drive will take place on Tuesday, March 19, 2013, from 1:30-6:20 p.m. at the Dysart Community Building, 418 Main Street. For more information or to schedule an appointment to donate, please contact Doug Mehlhaus at 319-476-3460. You can also schedule your appointment online at www.lifeservebloodcenter.org. As one of the 15 largest blood centers in the country, LifeServe Blood Center provides blood and blood products to more than 90 hospitals located across Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota.
