Wolf Creek Players hold annual meeting

The Wolf Creek Players annual meeting was held Sunday, February 17, at the Zion Lutheran Church. President Alice McGrath, who presided over the meeting, told of the upcoming play Arsenic and Old Lace and how the production will be held at the St. Joseph's Building in Dysart. She introduced the Wolf Creek Players board of directors' officers: Jim Radatz, vice president; Reda Charmichael, secretary; Reta Callahan, treasurer; Nancy Havran, past president and advisor; and board members Ryan Basye, Tony John, and Ron McGrath. Alice also indicated that there were ten people who became new cast members throughout the year. She also thanked the many (over 40) people and organizations who have donated to the Wolf Creek Players and how their monetary donations are important and appreciated by the Players in keeping community theater local.

Jim Radatz told of the theater happenings over the last year. The first two productions in 2012 were Sam Club, Private Eye, in the Case of the Motorcoach Mystery, a reader's theater, presented at the 2012 annual Tama County Convention & Visitors Bureau meeting at the Dysart Country Club and a full production Leaving Iowa in April. Two reader theater's productions, The Cell Phone Rings for Thee, and Wine, Candles and Anthrax were presented at the Traer Historical Museum. Sam Club, Private Eye, in the Case of the Malted Falcon was enjoyed by the Farmer's State Bank group at the Community Memorial Building in Traer and at a dinner theatre at Brick Lynn Cafe in Dysart in the summer. Another full production, A 1940's Radio Christmas Carol, was presented in early December.

Reta Callahan told of the financial condition of the organization in 2012. Over $4,500 was collected in ticket sales and over $2,000 donated to the organization. In addition, over $1,500 was netted from the Leaving Iowa production and over $500 from the A 1940's Radio Christmas Carol.

A short reader’s theatre, Credit Check, was presented at the annual meeting of the Wolf Creek Players. The cast members included: Valerie Ryan, Jana Ryan, Reta Callahan, Brian Watts, Ryan Basye, and Steve Karr.

Reda Charmichael read a synopsis of the upcoming play Arsenic and Old Lace and how there were roles available for many men and women. Jim Radatz is co-directing the play with Reda. The two will be holding auditions for the new play on Thursday, February 28, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart at 7 p.m. They look forward to have former and new faces trying out.

At the end of the meeting, a few members of the organization presented a reader's theater, Credit Check, which was directed by Ron McGrath. A soup supper was then served.
