The Union girls saw their season come to an end over the weekend with 39-50 loss against rival Center Point-Urbana in the opening round of regional play on Saturday.

The Knights, who reeled off four straight wins to end the regular season, had a tough time getting the offense going in the first half and were shut down by a tough CP-U defense in the final quarter.

After going into the locker room down 15-29 at the half, the ladies scored 16 points in the third quarter and looked to be in position to keep it close, but were outscored 14-8 in the fourth quarter, sealing their fate.

Payton Hilton had a team-high 17 points to go along with her five rebounds and team-high four assists. Sam Barz, Union's leading scorer this season, was held to just nine points, but did have a team-high eight rebounds and three blocked shots.

Breann Bader scored five, and Emily Phillips finished the game with four points.

Center Point-Urbana moves on to face Monticello, which beat Anamosa 45-26 in the opening round.
