Dysart Easter Cantata needs lots of singers

February 1, 2013
Ross Bercik - Managing Editor , Dysart Reporter

If you enjoy singing are are looking for a way to express yourself this Easter season, the Community Easter Cantata wants you!

Singers of all ability levels are welcome to come practice with the upcoming session, Upon This Rock, beginning February 3 at 4 p.m. at the Dysart United Methodist Church.

Don't worry - organizers aren't looking for the next Pavarotti - you just need to have a love of singing and the desire to tell the story of the Holy Week through song.

A cantata is a selection of songs, usually accompanied by narration, which tells a story. This year's celebration will focus on Jesus' arrival in Jerusalem, the scene in the garden before his crucifixion and the resurrection on Easter.

This year's composer is Pepper Choplin, is a favorite of many longtime cantata singers.

Dysart and other area residents who enjoy music and can make a committment of around five or six hours per week for the next seven weeks are encouraged to join.

Practice times will vary based on participant schedules. If you are interested and cannot make the first practice, please contact Deb Oliver at 800-391-1562 or oliver@netins.net.

The performance of Upon This Rock will be Sunday, March 24.
