With the holidays now behind us and the new year already in full swing, it's easy to forget the spirit of giving and generosity that brings people together during these joyous times.
In the spirit of the season, there will be a benefit for Dana (Hadley) Prestemon this weekend that will surely warm the hearts of Dysart residents. Prestemon has been diagnosed with cancer and is currently receiving treatment at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
This Sunday, January 6, the Zion Lutheran Church will be holding a benefit "Dinner for Dana" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event, which will be held at the church at 800 S. Main St. in Dysart, will feature grilled hamburgers and pork sandwiches, chips, baked beans, salads, desserts and drinks.
A free will donation will be taken, and all the money raised will go to assist with Dana's medical treatments and other expenses. Supplemental funds will be provided by Thrivent Financial.
The dinner will also be an opportunity for Dysart residents to socialize and enjoy company during this cold winter with some hot food and good times.
If you'd like to help Dana and her family fight this disease, you are encouraged to come out to the church on Sunday and show your support.
If you would like to contribute, but can't make the dinner, monetary donations can be sent to the Zion Lutheran Church.
The dinner will be held on Sunday, January 20 in the case of inclement weather.
