Girls improve to 2-3

December 13, 2012
Ross Bercik - Managing Editor , Dysart Reporter

The Union girls had a similarly good outing against Dike-New Hartford, even if it took them a bit longer to hit their stride offensively.

The ladies scored 21 fourth-quarter points to beat D-NH 52-43 behind a strong performance from junior Breann Bader. Bader led the Knights with 22 points and also snagged five rebounds.

Sam Barz led Union with 11 boards, scored 10 points and also recorded a season-high four steals. Payton Hilton had 15 points and seven rebounds in Friday's contest.

The girls, perhaps hurt by the lack of rest with back-to-back games on Friday and Saturday, never really got going against Benton on the road, falling 29-39 in a defensive battle. Barz led the Knights with 13 points and also had eight rebounds. Hilton snagged 11 boards to go along with her eight points and also had a pair of steals.

The ladies are now 2-3 overall and have an interesting set of matchups headed their way. They faced Wapsie Valley on the road on Tuesday, which was winless on the season heading in. The girls then face undefeated Hudson on the road on Friday.

Both games will be recapped in next week's Dysart Reporter.
