Jay Scheel had a team-high 16 points and Brian Dunkelberger added a dozen as the Union Knights pulled away late to secure a 53-46 win over Dike-New Hartford last Friday night in La Porte City.
The Knights, who struggled to find their offensive rhythm early, relied on good rebounding from Dunkelberger, who had eight boards in the contest, and Tanner Heckt, who snagged seven rebounds.
Juniors Bo and Kolten Bader had seven and nine points, respectively, and sophomore Brady Driscol provided a much-needed boost off the bench, chipping in with eight points.

The boys had a much tougher go of it on Saturday, dropping a road contest at Benton 45-66. Driscol and Scheel each had 10 points, and senior Aaron Haas added eight of his own, but the Knights fell behind early and never recovered. Union was outscored 21-4 in the first quarter.
The boys were on the road this week to face Wapsie Valley and Hudson before returning home for a Saturday contest against Dubuque.
