Doris L. Niedermann, 90, of Traer and formerly of Clutier, passed away on Wednesday, November 28, 2012, at Sunrise Hill Care Center after an extended illness. Visitation was held at Overton Funeral Home in Traer on Sunday, December 2 from 2 to 4 p.m. with a service on Monday, December 3 at 10:30 a.m. Burial followed at Waltham Cemetery in rural Elberon, Iowa.
Doris Louise Niedermann was born August 31, l922 near Clutier, Iowa the daughter of Purvis Luther and Verna Elizabeth (Overturf) Mason. Doris received her education in country schools and Garwin High School. On December 20, 1941 Doris was united in marriage to Alfred Loran Niedermann in Kansas. During World War II Doris worked in the Garwin Post Office. Following Loran's return from service Doris became a homemaker residing in Reinbeck and rural Garwin before moving to rural Clutier in January of 1956. Doris was a long time member of the Clutier American Legion Auxiliary and the Clutier Community Church. Doris enjoyed her family, gardening, playing pepper in her card club and taking bus trips with her good friend Ferne Pohlman.
Due to declining health, Doris entered Sunrise Assisted Living in October 2009 and entered Sunrise Hill Care and Rehab Center following a hip replacement in October 2010.
Doris is preceded in death by her husband; parents; step mother Helen Mason; step sister, Sister Alberta Scott and sons Purvis Dean Niedermann and Mark Loran Niedermann.
Doris is survived by her brother Lawrence Mason of Des Moines; daughter-in-law Judy Krezek of Clutier; one stepson, two step grandsons and numerous cousins.
