TURKEY TALES: What did you do for Thanksgiving?

December 7, 2012
Dysart Reporter

Blake Driscol: My mom goes to a pumpkin farm and picks out a turkey. She brings it home and puts it in the oven for 5 minutes. The oven has to be hot, hot, hot. We will eat spaghetti, cheese burgers, hot dogs, and just plain cookies.

Meghan Waldrop: Mom goes to Walmart and buys the turkey. Dad bakes it in the oven for 60 minutes. As the turkey is cooking, Dad tells us to put a paper towel over it so it doesn't burn. We mostly eat desserts with it, like brownies, chocolate chip cookies, or just plain cookies. I believe we will also have carrots and apples.

Ava Powers: My neighbor from a long ways away makes it for us. She gets it from the grocery store. She puts it in the oven for 20 minutes. We will have mash potatoes, gravy, green peas, and pumpkin pie.

Brooke Naef: We get our turkey from a farm or maybe the zoo. We walk it home and then mommy and me make the food. We put the turkey in the oven for 90 seconds. We set the oven to HOT. When it is done we will have pumpkin pie, apples, salad, tomatoes, and a few mash potatoes. Oh, and also cake.

Kaitlyn Muller: My mommy buys it at Walmart. My mommy will cook it in the oven for 5 minutes on 1000 degrees. When it is done, she will let it cool. We eat it with a fork. I will eat mash potatoes, beets, and meat loaf. Apple upside down cake we will have for dessert.

Avery Knoop: My grandma, I think, will get it from Walmart. She will cook it in her oven for 50 hours at 50 degrees. She puts a stick in it so some taste can come out. When it is done she puts it on the table and we eat pumpkin pie, mash potatoes, eggs with stuff in them, beans and corn. Then she says, "Let's eat!"

Garrett Kotouc: My mom and I buy a turkey from the store. My mom will cook it. She puts it in the oven for 90 minutes at 1 degree. When it cools we will eat it with a fork?just a fork, nothing else.

Zury Seuser: My mom will go to Walmart and pick it up in the food section. She will cook it at our house in the oven for 16 minutes at 50 degrees. When it is done, we will eat it. I don't know what we will eat because we have never had one before.

Caliana Bird: We go to a store and pick it up in the turkey section. My mom will cook it in the oven at 90 degrees for 18 minutes. We will have muffins and drink some milk. It will be good.

Ellie Marrah: My cousins buy two and give us one. My mom will cook it because my dad works till 3:00. She puts it in a big pot on the stove for 16 hours. She lets it cool off so we can eat it. We have chicken, loaves of pumpkin and banana bread, corn, a fruit salad, and drink water cause it can be really spicey.

Brayden Ryan: Mom and Dad will drive the car and pick it up from the store. They will bring it home and set it on the table for a while. Before we can eat it they will have to cook it in the microwave for 9 minutes. When it is done we will have mash potatoes and roasted carrots. Ice cream will be last because we have that every night, even with sprinkles.

Myah Pont: Mom will get our turkey from Walmart. She will cook it in the oven for 1 hour on 10 degrees. She will put hot sauce on it. When it is all done, she will put it on the table. We will have mash potatoes, pumpkin pie, and cupcakes with candy corns on top. If we don't eat it all we will save it in the fridge.

Hunter Anderson: Grandpa will go out to the field and shoot the turkey. He brings it in to Grandma. She cut it up and puts it in the oven for 5 minutes. She will put it on the table with potatoes, apple salad, and apple pie. My aunt and uncle will come too. When we are done we will wash our hands and go play.

Presten Allen: We buy one from anywhere that has a turkey. Mom and Dad cook it on a baker and turn the wheel. It stays on there for 75 seconds and they spin the wheel 3 times. We go eat it in the house with bologna, butter, roast beef sandwiches, and vanilla ice cream. When I am done, I will wipe my mouth with a napkin.

Amilia Condon: My mom goes out and looks for a turkey in a nest. She carries it home?WE DON'T EAT TURKEYS!! We just find food in the fridge or cupboards. We will eat peanut butter & jelly sandwiches and fruit.
