Denis G. "Buck" Wordes, 72

Denis "Buck" Gordon Wordes, 72, of Dysart, formerly of Clarksville, died Wednesday, Nov. 21, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born June 3, 1940, in Renville, Minn., son of Jennings and Beulah Hinders Wordes. He married Charlene Drenth on April 30, 1960, at St. John Lutheran Church, Clarksville. They were later divorced.

He was married to Debra Miller in 1991, and the couple moved to Dysart in 1998. Dennis made his home in Dysart until he went to the hospital. He did odd jobs around Dysart for many years, and made many friends.

He received his education from various country schools. Mr. Wordes worked as a logger and trucker for Cordon Norton and later Jim Norton. He also worked for the railroad as well as hauling milk for Larry Adelmund. He eventually retired from logging and trucking. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church.

He is survived by five sons, Dwayne (Cindy), Bryon and Dan (Deb), all of Clarksville, Mark of Menomonie, Wis., and Paul (James Jensen) of Minneapolis; a daughter, Cheryl Sherburne of Shell Rock; 11 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Dean (Maggie) of Allison; and two sisters, Shirley Wordes of Teague, Texas, and Rose (Rich) Adelmund of Greene. He also leaves two stepchildren and three great-stepchildren, along with a mother-in-law, brother-in-law and sister-in-law. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Services were held at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville with burial at Lynwood Cemetery. Visitation was held at Redman-Schwartz Funeral Home, also in Clarksville.
