Halloween provides week of fun for area kids

November 9, 2012
Alissa Klenk - Reporter , Dysart Reporter

Dysart area children had a variety of Halloween activities this year. The holiday kicked off with the Halloween Spooktacular, followed by a parade later in the week, and trick-or-treating on the evening of October 31st.

The annual Halloween Spooktacular, held at the Norma Anders Library, was a fun filled event. There were over 140 people in attendance to play the Halloween themed carnival games and listen to Halloween stories read by children's librarian Rachelle Frost. Frost was more than pleased with the turnout.

Dysart-Geneseo Elementary School students and staff dressed in costume for the Halloween parade, which was led by the Union Middle School marching band, during the afternoon on Halloween. The staff dressed up as scarecrows while students were dressed in costumes that varied from Goblins to princesses, superheroes and even an Angry Bird. Numerous spectators commented on the spectacular performance by the Union Middle School Band.
