Reward for arrest of Dysart vandals

September 27, 2012
Ross Bercik - Managing Editor , Dysart Reporter

Vandals have officially struck Dysart once again, and this time, residents are reporting the crime in the hopes of fending off future incidents.

The Tama County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the vandalism of headstones at the Dysart Cemetery. The office received a report of up to 15 gravesite markers being tipped over, with some even being broken in the process. Family members have stepped forward to offer a reward for information leading to the arrest of those responsible.

As residents may remember, there was a case of vandalism at the cemetery in late August that wasn't reported to the Sheriff's Office until September 15 after more damage had also occurred.

As of this printing, the Sheriff's Office stated that they had no solid leads or suspects. An estimated value of the damages has not yet been determined, so the ultimate cost of repair or replacement of the headstones will not be known until that time.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local law enforcement, including the Tama County Sheriff's Office, at 641-484-4111.
