On Monday the Dysart Fire Department and Dysart Ambulance Service were dispatched to a report of a vehicle on fire in a ditch near the Highway 21 and D65 intersection. Upon arrival they discovered a pickup truck fully engulfed in flames with the fire spreading through the ditch grass.
It was suspected that while checking the condition of his crops, the local farmer's exhaust system ignited the underlying grass. Apparently unaware of the fire, the driver was alerted by a passerby and was assisted from his vehicle.
The fire was quickly extinguished by the Fire Department. The vehicle's occupant was treated by members of the Ambulance Service for a burn to his hand and was released to family members.
Responding agencies were; The Dysart Ambulance Service, Dysart Fire Department, and the Dysart Police Department.
