200 bikes roll through Dysart

July 20, 2012
Dysart Reporter

The Thirsty Bulldog in Dysart was one of the stops for over 200 motorcyclists who participated in a Poker Run on Saturday, July 14. The bikers have five stops to make on the run at selected sites and receive a playing card at each location. At the end of the run, whoever has the best hand of poker wins! It was a beautiful day for a ride after the morning rain, and the riders had time to stop at each location to visit and have a cold beverage. Different Poker Runs are held throughout the summer.

There was also a motorcycle accident one mile south of Clutier that sent two people to the hospital sometime during the festivities. A motorcycle driven by a Cedar Rapids area man rear-ended another motorcycle. The accident occurred when a sudden downpour reduced visibility and all the vehicles began to slow. The driver of the motorcycle and his female passenger both received multiple injuries and were transported to St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids by the Elberon and Dysart Ambulance Services. The driver of the other motorcycle was not injured. Those responding were from Clutier, Dysart, Elberon and the Tama County Sheriff's Department.
