Dysart Venturing Crew 2325 joined in the 2012 Dysart Fourth of July Celebration by conducting minnow races. The Crew, sponsored by the Dysart Lions Club, became officially charted on June 29, 2012. Charter members are Katie Freeland, Allie McLaren, Kassie Hennings, Liz Wilson and Nathan Dvorak.

Venturing is a co-ed program of the Boy Scouts of America for teens and young adults 14 21. The Dysart Crew will be focused on outdoor activities from camping to high adventure trips like canoeing, rappelling, whitewater rafting and backpacking.

Activities include kayaking, whitewater rafting, dragon boat racing, scuba diving, BMX and mountain biking, skateboarding in an X-Games quality skate park, reaching speeds of up to 50 mph on the zip line, rock climbing and rappelling, shooting sports (including pistol shooting which is only available to Venturers,), archery, and the Highland Games.

The Jamboree Crew will also tour our nation's capital, Washington, D.C. Registration for the 2013 Jamboree closes in mid-September 2012.

While Venturing provides the opportunity for adventure, crew members will also develop leadership skills and learn to work together in a variety of settings. Community service is an important part of the Venturing program. Venturing includes a variety of award programs, just like the other programs of the Boy Scouts of America.

Many paths are available to Venturers; outdoor awards, hobby awards, faith awards and sports awards. Boy Scouts who are 14 years of age and have attained the rank of 1st Class may join Venturing and continue to advance in the Boy Scout ranks up to and including Eagle Scout.

The Dysart Lions Club is the Venturing Crew's sponsoring organization. Adult Crew Advisors are Dori Rammelsberg- Dvorak and Greg Reese. Rammelsberg-Dvorak has been a long-time Cub Scout leader and will be a Venturing Crew Advisor for the Winnebago Council at the 2013 National Jamboree. Reese has been involved in scouting for the majority of his lifetime and has been a Venture Crew Advisor at the Winnebago Council Camps.

Jill Hennings is the Crew Committee Chairperson. She serves as Pack Committee Chair for the Dysart Cub Scouts. Scouting has a long tradition in her family. Please contact Jill at 319-476-5120 to join Venture Crew 2325.
