Franklin G. Owens, 84, passed away June 3, 2012, after a long illness.
Frank was a decorated veteran who served his country in several organizations.
While in the Vietnam conflict he volunteered to join a special air commando squadron called Jungle Jim and was assigned to Hurlburt Field in Fort Walton Beach, Fla. Later on, he spent a tour just outside of Saigon, where he supported our Green Beret troops. Following an assignment to Maxwell AFB, Ala., he retired to Fort Walton Beach.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Owens; parents, George and Rose Marie Owens; and his brothers, Leland L. and James R. Owens. The survivors of the Owens family are James' wife, Louise Owens, and her children, Paul F. Owens, Barbara, R. Kehn, Ben H. Owens, Thomas L. Owens and Phyllis L. Wichman. Also surviving are the children of Leland Owens: Jay William Owens and James George Owens.
There will be a memorial service on July 10, 2012, in Pensacola, Fla.
