arvin Lee Vorba of Tulsa passed away Friday, June 1, 2012. He was 86. Marvin was born in Traer, Iowa on February 23, 1926 to Albert and Libby (Konicek) Vorba.
He was drafted into the Army in 1944 during World War II and served in Europe. His military awards included two bronze stars and a purple heart medal.
After his service in the military, he returned to Iowa in 1946 and married Nadine Havran on June 1, 1948.
Marvin made a career in the oil industry beginning with Midcontinent/DX Oil in Waterloo, IA, with transfers to Madison, WI, Cedar Falls, IA and finally to Tulsa with Sunray DX in 1964. He retired from Sun Oil Company in 1983.
They bought their first 5th wheel trailer shortly thereafter and pulled it to Alaska for their first trip, subsequently traveling to all continental states. Between trips, he and Nadine participated in church activities and provided needed support for family and friends in need.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Stan of Albert Lea, MN and sister Verna Mae Hartwig of Iowa City, IA. Survivors include wife Nadine, son Larry Vorba and wife Linda of Tulsa, daughter Janis Day and husband Bruce of Tulsa, grandchildren Alicia Beck and husband Travis of Breckenridge, CO, Jonathan Vorba of Stillwater, OK, Joshua Day of Oklahoma City, OK, and Sean Day of Tulsa, and great-grandson Otis Beck.
In lieu of flowers, rememberances can be made through contributions to Fellowship Lutheran Church and/or Green County Hospice.
