Mary L. Eggers, 82, of Marshalltown and formerly of Gladbrook, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 12, 2012, at Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown. Visitation was held on Wednesday, May 6, 2012 at 9 a.m. at Elim Lutheran Church in Marshalltown, with a service at 11 a.m. Burial followed at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown.
Mary L. Eggers was born May 3, 1930 in Marshalltown, IA, daughter of Henry E and Vera P. (Johnson) Schultz. She received her education in Marshalltown where she graduated from high school in 1948. On June 24, 1948 she was united in marriage to Earl H. Eggers at the Peace United Church of Christ in Gladbrook. They made their home in Gladbrook all their married life where she continued to make her home after Earl's death on March 29, 1991. In later years she sold her home in Gladbrook and moved to Marshalltown and has been a resident of the Villa Del Sol Care Center where her death came on Saturday, May 12, 2012 at the age of 82 years. She was a former member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Gladbrook and currently was attending the Elim Lutheran Church, Marshalltown. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Earl, one son Harry Eggers on August 22, 2011, brothers James H. Schultz and Robert D. Schultz and sisters Shirley A. Medberry and Marilyn Schultz. She is survived by a daughter-in-law Martha Eggers of Marshalltown, three grandchildren, Stanley Eggers, Erick Eggers, and Jennifer (Kevin) Sharp all of Marshalltown, one great grandchild Skye, one sister Darlene (Paul) Maytag of Marshalltown, and several nieces and nephews.
