The first Dysart Yard of the Month for 2012 has been awarded to Dee and Roger Roseke, at 302 Wilson Street, by the Dysart Development Corporation.
The Rosekes have just begun implementing a five-year plan to beautify their yard since moving to Dysart from Davenport, Iowa, just over a year ago. Since moving in, the retired couple has transformed what was just a patch of grass into a landscaped area with a wooden swing and a water fountain, both pieces that they brought with them from their home in Davenport.
Dee does most of the gardening and Roger takes care of the lawn. A focal point of the yard is a quilt block that showcases the couple's artistry. The quilt block has a removable center that they plan on changing out each month with different designs that Dee drew and Roger painted.
Over the next few years, the Rosekes will continue to add more flower beds filled with beautiful flowers, a strawberry patch, and possibly a deck to the front of their house.
Be sure to stop by and congratulate Roger and Dee on being awarded with the May 2012 Yard of the Month.
