Genevieve Miriam Kucera, 97, of Toledo, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012, at Carrington Place of Toledo under the care of Iowa River Hospice.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Thursday, April 26, 2012, at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Tama with Father Michael Mescher as celebrant. Interment followed at St. Wenceslaus Cemetery in rural Clutier. Visitation was held Wednesday, April 25, 2012, from 5-7 p.m. at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama with a Vigil Service at 7 p.m.
Genevieve was born on March 8, 1915, in Howard Township, rural Toledo, the daughter of Anton and Anna (Zmolek) Kucera.
She was a housekeeper for several priests over her working career. She liked to garden and bake traditional Czech foods. Genevieve was a very devoted member of the Catholic Church where she was active in the Rosary Society and K.D. Lodge.
Preceding her in death were her parents; four brothers, Philip, Anthony, Joseph and Frank Kucera; and three sisters, Anna Hlas, Mary Kucera, and Frances Wobeter; and eight nieces and nephews.
Survivors include thirty-two nieces and nephews; one hundred thirteen great nieces and nephews; and many great-great nieces and nephews.
For memorials, Masses would be appreciated.
