James Allen Sienknecht, 78

James Allen Sienknecht, 78, of Clutier, passed away Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo. Funeral Services were held Thursday, October 6, 2011 at Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home in Tama, 209 E. 7th St., Tama, with Pastor James Perry officiating. Interment followed at Oneida Cemetery in rural Clutier.

James was born on January 26, 1933, in Gladbrook, the son of John and Katie (Linder) Sienknecht. He graduated from Clutier High School in 1951. On July 11, 1951, he was united in marriage to Thelma M. Vlasak at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He worked for Farm Service throughout his career and was a long time school bus driver for North Tama County Community School District. James was a member of the Keystone Turner Hall, Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Iowa Trapshooters Association. He was a volunteer Fireman for over forty years in Clutier. Jim loved his yearly Canadian fishing trips and collecting yardsticks.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Thelma on May 29, 2005; a son, Dwight in 1973; and son-in-law, John Hupfeld in 2001; three brothers, Lyle, John and Bill Sienknecht; a half brother, Lorenz Sienknecht; and two half sisters, Violetta Sienknecht and Ada Krutzfeldt.

Survivors include three sons, Donald (Cindy) Sienknecht of Ames, Ronald (Koral) Sienknecht of Cedar Falls and Brian (Jo) Sienknecht of Buckingham; two daughters, Marilyn (Larry) Popelka of Clutier and Judy (Randy Krough) Hupfeld of Vinton; ten grandchildren; eight great granddaughters; two brothers, Leslie (Pauline) Sienknecht of Clutier and Ralph (Pauline) Sienknecht of Clutier; two sisters, Rosemarie Welton of Cedar Rapids and Peggy (David) Dvorak of Elberon; and several nieces and nephews.A memorial fund has been established.
