Last Saturday night while the family was in town, thieves entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Boyd, northeast of Dysart, and made a real cleaning. Cupboards, drawers, trunks and closets had been ransacked. Many valuable jewelry pieces were missing.
It is now grandpa and grandma A. R. Kullmer as a fine baby boy was born to Mr. and Mrs. Keith Kullmer on Monday, October 5, at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Weaver, seven miles west of Dysart.

Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Zorny welcomed a girl at St. Francis Hospital in Waterloo on Tuesday evening, October 9. This is their third child and third daughter.
Joy Lee is the name of the daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Bill Gahring on October 4. Mrs. Gahring is the former Bertha Weisert of Dysart.
Oct. 20, 1960
Mr. and Mrs. Wilbert Stueck are the parents of a daughter, Susan Lois, born Wednesday, October 12, at the Vinton hospital. This is the couple's second child and first daughter.
Mr. and Mrs. William Schultz of Dysart celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary on October 8. A family reunion was held.

Union High School's 2001 Homecoming Queen is Natasha Clark. She was escorted by her father, Todd Clark.
Emily Hast received her first place award for the Grocery Sack Recycling Contest in the form of a free airplane ride on Friday, September 28. The airplane ride was donated by pilot Jim Pippert of Dysart.
