The Dysart Historical is planning a Grand Opening Celebration at the Dysart Historical Center, 612 Crisman Street, for the new Agricultural Museum and Interpretive Center which was recently completed. The event will take place on Sunday afternoon, October 2nd, from 2:00 until 4:00. A short program and ribbon cutting will take place at 2:30. Refreshments will be served in the Country School.
Visitors may want to bring their lawn chairs. Volunteers are busy moving the agricultural artifacts into the museum and are working on the displays. The new museum was built with the help of many community contributions and grants, and volunteer hours. The Historical Center is one of Iowa's Great Places and an Emerging Silos and Smokestacks site. Be sure to take a look at the "Barn Raisers" display which will list the names of all contributors.
The Dysart Historical Center is open on Sunday afternoons from 2:00 until 4:00 during warm weather and anytime by appointment. All of the buildings are climate controlled for comfort and are handicapped accessible. Be sure to mark Sunday, October 2nd on your calendar.
