Harold Richard “Hank” Foss, 87

Harold Richard "Hank" Foss, 87, of Buckingham, died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 at Covenant Medical Center of natural causes. He was born February 13, 1924 in La Porte City the son of Glen Sr. and Margaret Smith Foss. He married Kathleen Peters on February 20, 1946 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Waterloo.

Hank farmed his entire life in the Buckingham area. He volunteered at Covenant Medical Center by driving the caravan for 16 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, President of Farmers Mutual Insurance Board, Past President of the Buckingham Coop, Manager of the Feed Barn for over 20 years at the National Dairy Cattle Congress, Past President of the Dysart-Geneseo School Board; member of the Waterloo Planning and Zoning Committee and the ASCS County Committee.

Survived by: his wife Kathleen; three sons, Kevin Foss of La Porte City, Chris (Deb) Foss of La Porte City, Jeff Foss of Buckingham; two daughters, Diane (Joel) Hall of Oelwein, Amy (Mike) Knupp of Dysart; nine grandchildren, Nathan Hall, Andy Knupp, Kristi Evenson, Mindy Steinlage, Tony Knupp, Scott Foss, Nicole Foss, Justin Foss, Melissa Foss; nine great-grandchildren; one brother, Glen (Novie) Foss Jr. of La Porte City; two sisters, Margaret Eileen Purdy of La Porte City, Verna Mae Dengler of Cedar Falls and two sisters-in-law, Eleanor Conner of Waterloo and Millie Foss of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by: his parents and one brother, Elwin Foss

Mass of Christian Burial was held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 10, 2011 at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church (Eagle Center) with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation was held Friday from 4-8 p.m. at St. Mary of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, where there will be a 5:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary. Visitation will also be held one hour before the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family, where a memorial fund will be established.
