Sept. 10, 1931

Thieves visited the home of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Lockard, north of Dysart, recently when the family was absent from the farm and stole a large number of cans of fruit from the cellar.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed Landgrebe, residing south of Dysart, are the parents of a new son born to them Friday, August 28.

Sept. 11, 1941

A group of relatives gathered at the Community Building Sunday honoring Mrs. Emma Lorenzen and son, Herbert, of Jasper, Minn.

Mrs. John Messer, 78-year-old resident of the community for many years, was buried Saturday. Funeral services were held at the Evangelical church.

Sept. 13, 1951

Mr. and Mrs. John Vesely of Traer observed their golden wedding anniversary Sunday.

Marianna Hansen, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Willie Hansen, returned home yesterday from Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo following minor surgery.

Sept. 22, 1960

Mr. and Mrs. Robert Degner are the parents of a son, Mark Earl, born Thursday, September 15, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Moore are the parents of a son born Sunday, September 18, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

Sept. 14, 1961

The Tama County Sheriff's Office and local authorities are investigating two break-ins in Dysart. The Village Inn Cafe and Stein's Tavern were both broken into between 4 and 4:30 a.m. Wednesday.

The season championship go-kart races will be held at the Dysart Karters Track on Sunday, September 24, starting at 1:30 p.m.

Sept. 2, 1971

Deborah Lee Muth became the bride of Lt. Gary Reed in a 5 o'clock ceremony Saturday evening, August 28, at Chapel One at Homestead Air Force Base, Fla.

Kathleen Wiltgen of Sioux City became the bride of William Hahn of Dysart at Blessed Sacrament Church in Sioux City on August 21.

Sept. 3, 1981

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mehlert of Dysart will observe their 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday, September 13.

Miss Mylene, a yearling fillie quarter horse owned by Nancy and Dale Mikoda, took first place in Des Moines at the Iowa State Fair this year.

Sept. 5, 1991

Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Dettmering of Dysart announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Kathryn, to Paul R. Mugan, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Mugan of Mason City.

Joe Treloar, Dysart's newly hired police chief, began work with his first patrol in Dysart on Saturday night.

Sept. 6, 2001

Union School Board has four seats to fill when the elections come around on Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2001. Those running include Deb Bader of La Porte City, Mary Bauer of La Porte City, Joe Connolly of La Porte City, and Mark Nechanicky of Buckingham.

Three seats are open this year on the Dysart City Council as Council Members Drinda Williams, Rick Krug, and Joe Coffey's terms up for re-election.
