Norman Raye Corcran, 75, of Vinton formerly of Dysart and LaPorte City, died on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the Vinton Lutheran Home of Natural causes. There will be no visitation held. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Dysart Cemetery, Dysart.
Norman Raye Corcran was born September 16, 1935 at Dysart, son of Vannie and Goldie Maledy Corcran. He received his education in the Dysart schools where he graduated in 1954. While in high school Norman began working for Pioneer Seed Corn Company and after school continued his employment there. He then went to work for Cornfield Auto in Dysart as a mechanic and also farmed for a time. Later he owned and operated Corcran Oil Company in Keystone before returning to Pioneer in Dysart. On October 2, 1957 he married Karen Selk and they later divorced. In 1989 he married LaVonne Youngblut. After his retirementthey moved to La Porte City where they made their home and managed the Prairie Village Apartments for many years. After LaVonne's death on January 16, 2010, he moved to the Vinton Lutheran Home where his death came on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at the age of 75 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife LaVonne and a step daughter Toni. He is survived by one son Karter Corcran of Marion, and one daughter Kelly (Steve) Jones of Center Point, one step son Virgil Thompson Jr of Ohio, one step daughter Brenda (David) Cramer of Bright, Ind., one granddaughter Courtney Jones, and six step grandchildren, Zach, Shawna, Samantha, Dusty, Kuyler and Jaydn.
