Gail F. Winkelpleck, 82 of Dysart died Wednesday, May 10, 2011 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo of natural causes. A visitation was held Friday, May 13 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Overton Funeral Home, Dysart. A memorial service was held Saturday, May 14 at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Dysart. Burial was at Dysart Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Dysart American Legion.

Gail F Winkelpleck was born March 21, 1929 east of Traer, son of Roy and Ethel Inman Winkepleck. He received his education in the Geneseo School where he graduated in 1947. Gail then began farming with his father and on June 3, 1951 he was united in marriage to Anna Mae Mauderer at the Lutheran Church in Reinbeck. In August of 1951 he entered the United States Army where he served his country during the Korean War. During that time he also served as Secretary to General McArthur. After his discharge he returned to Dysart to farm and in 1955 started Dysart Trucking Company which he operated until his son Randy took over in 1993. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church and an active member of the Dysart American Legion where he worked their Bingo operation of 27 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sons Gary and Terry and two brothers Roger and Roland. He is survived by his wife Anna Mae, one son Randy (Martha) Winkelpleck and one daughter Denise Kimbell all of Dysart, two grandsons Daniel and Nic and one brother John (Rita) Winkelpleck of Grundy Center.
