Union wrestlers win big in dual meet at Dysart

The Union High School wrestling team took on Oelwein and Center Point-Urbana in a dual meet held at the Union Middle School in Dysart on January 11. Union won both meets handily over their opponents. In the Oelwein meet, Union took the victory with a 66-12 final score. Winning for Union in their individual matches were: Ernie Hennings at 119 due to an open class; Joey Damro at 125 due to an open class; Garrick Powell at 130 won by a fall in 5:02; Logan Thomsen at 135 won by a technical fall 20-5; Brock Kruckmeyer at 140 and Austin Dengler at 145 due to open classes; Dylan McLaughlin at 152 by a score of 10-0; Cody Krall at 160 due to an open class; Jake Reiter at 171 by a score of 7-0; Matt Schmitz at 189 and Jacob Clark at 275 due to open classes; and Josh Clark at 215 won by a fall in :37.

The meet with CPU went Union's way as well with the final score being 68-12. Those scoring points for the Knights were: Ted Tecklenburg at 103 winning 10-9; Ernie Hennings at 119 won by a fall in 3:56; Joey Damro at 125 won by a fall in 1:29; Garrick Powell at 130 won by a fall in :52; Brock Kruckemeyer at 135 due to an open class; Logan Thomsen at 140 won by a technical fall with a score of 20-3; Austin Dengler at 145 won by a fall in 5:34; Dylan McLaughlin at 152 won by a fall in 1:29; Cody Krall at 160 won by a fall in 1:35; Jake Reiter at 171 won by a fall in :47; Matt Schmitz at 189 won by a fall in :42; and Josh Clark at 215 won by a fall in 2:53.
