Union Grapplers win dual meet

The Union Knights high school wrestling team traveled to Le Grand to participate in a double dual meet with Wapsie Valley and East Marshall. In the meet with Wapsie, Union came out on top by a final team score of 42 to Wapsie's 33. Ted Tecklenburg received the first points as his weight slot was open on the Wapsie side. At 112, Cole Reiter won by fall in 3:01 over Cole Brandt. Logan Thomsen at 135 also won by fall in 1:10 over Trevor McMahon. At 140, Austin Dengler won by fall over Collin Brandt in 3:00, and at 145, Christian Gray won by fall in :32 over Bill Land. The weight classes at 189 and 275 were open on the Wapsie side with Union receiving the points. Both sides were open at the 215 weight class.

Union took to the mat with East Marshall and won the meet 40-36. At 119, Joey Damro won by fall in 1:43 over Justin Case. At 125 and 130, both Union wrestlers won by fall; Garrick Powell in 1:30 over Cole Harre and Brock Kruckemeyer in 5:56 over Zach Rubenbauer. Logan Thomsen took the match at 135 by a score of 11-3 over Kyle Blocker. At 140, Austin Dengler won by fall over Jeremy Roberts in 5:27. The 160 and 215 weight classes were left open for Union. Matt Schmitz, at 189, won by fall in :49 over Brenden Wanatee, and at 275, Josh Clark won by fall over Michael Buchanan in :51.
