McGivern and Turner exchange vows

Anne Elizabeth McGivern and Travis Ray Turner celebrated the Sacrament of Marriage July 17, 2010 in Cedar Falls.

Parents of the couple are Bart and Lynne McGivern and Ron and Kathy Turner of Dysart and Sue Turner and Bruce Thornberry of Janesville.

Monsignor Lyle Wilgenbusch presided over the ceremony at Saint Patrick Catholic church.

Marsha Nichols was organist/pianist with Austin Javellana providing vocals. John McGivern, uncle of the bride, was reader and Connor McGivern, cousin of the bride, was cross bearer.

The bride wore an ivory silk organza gown featuring a crinolined skirt and train, re-embroidered silk lace bodice and open back. She carried a hand-tied bouquet of soft pink and green garden flowers. Her ladies wore strapless chiffon short gowns in raspberry pink. Their hand-tied bouquets held bright pink and green garden blooms. The gentlemen wore classic black tuxedos.

Maid of Honor was Heather Harvey, Des Moines, friend of the couple. Bridesmaids were Carly McGivern, Dysart, sister-in-law of the bride, Rachele Monroe, Cedar Falls, friend of the couple, Lindsey Elliott, Des Moines, friend of the couple and Breanne Russell, Cedar Falls, friend of the couple.

Best Man was Ross Miller, Hudson, friend of the couple. Groomsmen were Patrick McGivern, Dysart, brother of the bride, Chris Penney, Mason City, friend of the couple, Brett Faine, Iowa City, friend of the couple and Jason Miller, Cedar Falls, friend of the couple.

Seating guests were Michael McGivern, Dysart, brother of the bride, Paul Bakewell, Brandon Medlin and Matt Johnannsen, all of Cedar Falls, friends of the couple.

Personal attendants were Lydia Beck, Columbia, Mo and Amy Ortman, Waterloo, friends of the couple. Guestbook attendants were Josie Kennicott, Cedar Falls and Katie Kennicott, Ames, friends of the couple. Flowers were pinned by Peggy Levine, Omana, Neb., aunt/Godmother of the bride. Eric and Jenny Pettengill, Rochester, Minn., were hosts. Shane and Jody Reisner, Waterloo were boat chauffeurs.

The celebration continued at Park Place Event Centre with dinner and dancing. After returning from their Alaska honeymoon, Mr. and Mrs. Turner have made their home in Cedar Falls. Anne is a senior at UNI, student teaching in January 2011. Travis is managing pharmacist at Cedar Falls Hy-vee.
