Dear Editor,

August is National Water Quality Month. It's good to be reminded, once in awhile, of the importance of having clean water.

The environmental protection agency is responsible for educating people about the benefits of clean water and also enforcing the Clean Water Act legislation. Both are very important jobs. The EPA works to promote livestock producer's legal compliance. Farmers getting clean water permits are important because they show their compliance with current regulations; therefore, insuring cleaner waters.

Livestock regulations are complex and continue to change very fast. For livestock farmers to prosper, they must know and understand state and federal regulations, so that future generations can remain on the land.

All of us water clean water. We want are rivers and streams to thrive with fish and other aquatic life. As farmers, we continue to change with the rues and regulations as well as other aspects in the farming world.
